The provision of good road network, resuscitation of moribund State’s facilities and human capital development would go a long way to further improve business and commercial activities in Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State.
These were the general consensus of the people of the District at a town hall meeting held in Ilaro, as part of their inputs to the State's 2020 Budget.
The meeting which had in attendance traditional rulers, elders and leaders from different trade, associations and interest groups, harped on good road, resuscitation of the abandoned Gateway Hotel, Ota, establishment of a University in the District, renovation of schools and employment of more teachers.
In his address at the meeting, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, said Government was taking full advantage of the district strategic geographical location and as the industrial hub of the nation, to improve its socio-economic development and create wealth for the people.
He maintained that the District was key to the development of the State, adding that, with increase in number of industrial establishment and level of commercial activities, the people have continue to remain in the forefront of the socio-economic development of the State.
‘’Ogun West is the engine room of the State and we are taking maximum advantage of our geographical location, as the largest economy in Africa and a window into the West Africa corridor. It is self evident truth that without the Ogun West Senatorial District, we cannot be Gateway State. I therefore consider this District a priority.
"We have come to learn how to ensure strategic allocation of our Commonwealth, to cover projects and programmes that would have most meaningful impact on the people. We will take copious note of all your comments, recommendations, proposals and these would be taken as an important factor in the preparation process of the State’s Budget’’, he noted.
The number one citizen also maintained that, his Government was committed to providing employment for the youths and expand the state’s economic base through public private partnership, adding that the machinery of Government for good governance and reversing infrastructural deficits across the 236 wards in the State would be reformed.
Consultant to the Governor on Budget and Planning, Mr. Ola-Olu Olabimtan in his remark, said the meeting was to get the aggregate position of the people, with a view to producing People's Budget that would bring development to the State.
He maintained that a free flow of Information between the Government and the governed was crucial, stating that feedback from all stakeholders would further enhance the socio-economic development of the State.
A community leader, Mr. Safaudeen Popoola, appreciated the Governor for the opportunity to contribute to the budget, expressing optimism that their inputs at the budget meeting would be fully implemented by the Government.
He promised that CDAs in the axis would continue to cooperate with the State Government in the ‘’Building our Future Together Agenda
