As the ember months commences, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), has begun its advocacy drive, with the theme, ‘Stay Safe, Drive Safely and be Protected’, to reduce the rate of accidents during the period.
A release signed by TRACE Corp Commander and Chief Executive Officer, Commander ‘Seni Ogunyemi, enjoined road users, schools, religion institution, market places, as well as parks and garages, to observe and respect the Covid-19 protocols to help flatten the curve of the pandemic.
It indicated that motorists were to promote safe and responsible motoring at all times, advising them to equally ensure they were mentally, psychologically and physically balanced before embarking on any journey, as there was nothing mystical about the ember months.
According to the release, motorists should ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles and avoid night travels, as well as unimportant journeys, adding that other means of transportation could be employed to reduce road pressure during this period.
The Corps Commander in the release solicited the support, cooperation and understanding of the general public to avert unwarranted road mishaps, saying, “motoring public should be extra careful at all the road construction zones, especially, where traffic is diverted and obey traffic managers, stationed to monitor compliance’’, he advised.
