Ogun State House of Assembly has expressed displeasure over the non-compliance of some residents, with the provisions of the COVID-19 regulations and the disease Health Protection Regulations 2021, recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Consequently, the Assembly has directed the State Ministries of Health and Environment to double their efforts, towards ensuring that the people abide by safety protocols on COVID-19, in line with the State Executive Order on precautionary measures, especially at public places and gatherings including markets.
Responding to the submissions of the member representing Egbado North II State Constituency, Hon. Wahab Haruna, who spoke under personal explanation, during a plenary session, the Speaker, Rt Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, admonished residents to observe the stipulated guidelines, in containing the spread of the deadly disease, by maintaining social distance and using face masks, among others.
In another development, Speaker Oluomo has charged the House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, to liaise with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on modalities for ensuring the effective utilisation of Model Schools constructed across the 20 Local Government Areas.
He gave the directive, while responding to the presentation of the member representing Ijebu-East State Constituency, Hon. Olusola Adams, who reported the invasion of the Model School situated in his Constituency by burglars who carted away valuable school materials, pointing out that hoodlums had also turned the facility to a hideout to perpetrate crimes.
