 OGUN ASSEMBLY SCREENS ADDITIONAL NOMINEE FOR OGSIEC

Ogun State House of Assembly has screened the additional nominee for the State Independent Electoral Commission, Mrs. Remilekun Olaopa, whose name was forwarded to the Assembly by State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, through a correspondence dated 2nd March, 2021, with a charge to her to work with others towards conducting a peaceful, free and fair local government election in the State.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, in company of other members gave the charge during the screening, while urging the nominee to bring her experience to bear with others towarding putting in place an enduring local government electoral system, when confirmed by the Assembly and sworn in by the State Governor.

According to the Speaker, the need to accord priority to the conduct of free and fair election would give every contestants/political parties level playing field to allow the vote of electorate count, thereby helping to deepen democratic practice in the State.

Responding, the nominee, (Chief) Mrs. Olaopa, a legal practitioner and an indigene of Yewa South Local Government Area, promised to bring to bear, her over 30years of legal practice in the new assignment upon confirmation by the State Legislature and swearing in by the Governor.
