AS THIS DARK CLOUD FALLS UPON OGUN WEST TODAY, 28TH MAY 2022
Good Morning my dear Ogun West Apex elders and leaders. when I saw those images from Sagamu, my spirit came alive, because in the people, I saw courage, positive deviance and conviction, I saw a people with self and collective librating spirit!
This day, the 28th of May 2022, our party shall elect it's 2023 Senatorial candidate for Ogun West. Alas, yesterday, the 27th of May, 2022, a DARK cloud befell Ogun West with the debasement of two of our most promising sons in persons of Rt. Hon. Abiodun Isiak Akinlade and Prince Gboyega Isiaka when they conceded their senatorial aspirations for House of Representatives slots.
With that singular act, both of them inadvertently ceded the Ogun West Senatorial slot to Sen. Olamilekan Solomon who presently represents Lagos West at the Red Chambers. If the trend that commenced at the MKO Stadium Abeokuta on Thursday the 26th of May and yesterday the 27th were to continue, then our illustrious son, Sen. Tolu Odebiyi will be scored the symbolic “0” at the Senatorial primary today.
After the ill-advised and needless incident that occurred at Deacon Dapo Adeyemi’s residence on Wednesday the 25th May 2022, I attempted to contact most of our elders with the singular aim of notifying them that the challenge before them was not the choice of who represents Ogun West as governor in 2023 but how to avert this DARK CLOUD hovering above us as a people.
So, once again, I call upon the Ogun West Apex elders to rise and show leadership. Please note that I do NOT subscribe to violence because it has never solved any problem, but I believe that a determined and conscious mind can achieve the unthinkable!. All we need in Ogun West is LEADERSHIP!!!.
The emergence of an individual as the senatorial candidate of one political party should NOT foreclose our rights and ability to rally support for a true SON of Ogun West. We can not afford to resign to be docile or retreat into oblivion at this particular point in time no matter how embarrassing or painful it is.
Delegates will not be voting at the general elections come 2023, rather each of us will have the opportunity as entrenched in the Constitution and the Electoral Act to vote anyone of our choice, in any political party. So, our leaders must as a matter of urgency lead the charge by mobilizing our people across the senatorial district to vote wisely and courageously.
Awon a lale a gbe wa o.
Your son,
Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade (Triple A),
28th May, 2022.
