CJPAN's Symposium: Focus More On Responsibility, Credibility In Reportage -Mr Nasir Rahmon To Journalists
The Head of Corporate affairs in United Bank of Africa (UBA), Mr. Nasir Rahmon has advised journalists to focus more on Responsibility and credibility while discharging their duties.
He made this known at the Celebrity Journal Publishers Association of Nigeria (CJPAN's) annual Lecture tagged ,The Role of New Media in 21st Century Banking Industry held on Thursday, 28th July, 2022 at LCCI Conference Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria
Mr. Rahmon, who was a guest speaker at the event lauded the association for organizing the seminar, while also using the opportunity to encourage the participants and journalists across Nigeria to always ensure that the stories they report are rooted through credible sources
In his words, 'focus on Responsibility and credibility in all reportage'. He stressed further that there is no sin in reporting a story but let it be based on facts.
Gentlemen of the press, 'don't let us get to the point where corporates will say do your worst. Therefore, i implore you to ensure you verify the sources of any news you want to report, because, if it gets to that point, it will affect you and I, he advised.
Another speaker at the event, Dr. Akin Olaniyan PR, Media Marketing Communications practitioner urged journalists to learn more about digital marketing in order to understand other ways of improving on their media enterprise as well as improve their earnings.
Mr Moses Obajemu, a PR, Media and Marketing Communications Practitioner who represented, Mr.Kayode Akinyemi, said that authenticity is the keyword in journalism. He however, urged journalists to ensure that what they are reporting online are authenticated and balanced.
In response, Mr. Joshua Uloko, the President of the Celebrity Journal Publishers Association of Nigeria expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his members, stakeholders, and sponsors for their support towards successful hosting of the event .
He noted that the association has the mandate to always do what its best given any situation and will continue to discharge its duties responsibly and creditably. He further urged corporate organizations not to relent in supporting the association in its bid to build a more enduring media landscape in Nigeria.
