Yuletide: TRACE Leads Public Enlightenment Campaign Around Ota

The ever busy ancient city of Ota, on December 22, 2022 was roused to the realization of safety consciousness in Ember Months, especially December, by the campaign team of TRACE led by Ota Divisional Command, Cdr Victoria Olaoke.

The campaign team with a public address machine mounted on TRACE operational vehicle led the train of other vehicles from TRACE Office, moving towards Ota,  Tollgate on Ilo-Awella Road, as Cdr Olaoke, holding the microphone, preached safety precautionary campaign to the general public.

The campaign team traversed black spots  traffic prone, in Ota including Tollgate, Osin/Navy/Ikola Roundabout where it is forbidden for vehicles with 6 tyres and above to ply.

Other areas touched include Awolowo/NITEL Road, Joju Roundabout, Oju-Ore Roundabout and Sango Under Bridge.

Cdr Olaoke preached against dangerous driving, driving in a direction prohibited by road traffic law,or  flouting traffic regulations, as well as avoiding over-speed with the caution that it is better to be late than being the late.

She reminded motorcycle riders, aka Olokada, of the need to always wear crash helmet for the safety of their heads and car owners to put on their belt while driving.

Road-Street traders were warned to keep off the roads, while equally cautioning Pedestrians crossing children on the road to be careful and safety conscious.

At Oju-Ore, union executives were addressed on the need to give peace a chance and avoiding carrying or dropping passengers on the road as that usually responsible for the intractable traffic hold-up on the axis, causing obstruction for other road users.

Responding on invitation, one of the Union Executives, at Oju-Ore, Omoba Ahmed Dosumu, pleaded with the government authorities to provide wide parks and garages for commercial vehicles, saying Oju-Ore Roundabout is too narrow accommodate voluminous human and vehicular movement, which causes serious traffic issue.
