IGP APPROVES REDESIGN OF NEW POLICE COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE (PCRC) ID CARD, RENDER EXISTING INVALID
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP OLUMUYIWA ADEJOBI, mnipr, mipra in a press release today stated that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, in line with his zeal to sanitize and standardize all policing sectors, has rendered invalid the existing Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Identity Card with effect from December 2022.The FPRO averred that the IGP has also ordered the redesign and re-issuance of new PCRC ID cards from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, after judicious screening of PCRC membership across the board. This means it affects every PCRC member.CSP Olumuyiwa further stated that the Inspector-General of Police directs all eligible PCRC members nationwide to contact the offices of the various Zonal, Command and Formations PCRC Chairmen as well as the Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) of their Zones, Commands and Formations respectively to obtain new forms for processing the newly approved ID Card.
The Force spokesman elucidated that the IGP has additionally directed that anyone presenting the invalidated PCRC ID card henceforth should be arrested and prosecuted consequently.
The PCRC is a community policing based organization established by the Nigeria Police Force in 1984 to foster partnership between the Police and the community with a view to enhancing efficient and effective policing.
