Wrongful Use of Image by EFCC, GTBank Set Records Straight

The management of Guarantee Trust Bank Ltd. has alerted its customers and the Nigerian banking public to a wrongful use of the image of one of its branches by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission while posting the report of an official of an unnamed bank who was arrested for hoarding the New Naira notes in Abija.

According to a statement signed by the bank’s head of Corporate Communications, Tolulope Onipede, “We refer to the attached image of a GTBank branch in Abuja used in a social media post by EFCC to narrate the arrest of a bank official in an unnamed commercial bank due to cash hoarding.

Please note that whilst the image used is that of a GTBank branch, no staff of ours was arrested in connection with cash hoarding.

EFCC officials visited our Area 3 and Area 11 branches today and no infraction was found against the Bank.

The statement also disclosed that Guarantee Trust Bank has “reached out to the Head of Public Relations at EFCC who has promised to rectify this.”
