AOOLG BOSS CLEARS AIR ON PROPOSED ATAN SHOPPING COMPLEX, MEETS CIVIL SOCIETIES

The Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adewale Musa, on Wednesday, cleared the air on the lingering issue of the proposed Shopping Complex in front of NUD Primary School, in Atan.
The Council Boss made the clarification during a visit of the Coalition of Civil Societies in Ogun State to his office in Ota.

He explained that the project was conceptualized in a bid to curb the activities of illegal trading, arbitrary use as a motor park, and security challenges posed by miscreants that lurk around the vicinity of the school.

He however stressed that Stakeholders in Atan Community were consulted while the process of approval has been initiated.

The Coalition of Civil Societies in the state, led by Comrade Bankole Solomon paid a consultative meeting to the office of the Chairman in a bid to hear his side of the story.

According to Bankole, it is important to give the Chairman a fair hearing after several allegations have been raised against his person and office.

"We chose to adopt the 3 Cs of struggle which are Consultation, Consolidation, and Confrontation. We have come today to consult you so that you can tell us why the Local Government has decided to convert the premises of a citadel of learning into a shopping complex.

"We strongly believe the two institutions should not co-exist within the same environment. Before we hit the street on a protest, we must hear your side of the story. This is why we are here sir", Bankole said.

The Chairman further said he runs an open-door system and always appreciates civic engagement with relevant stakeholders. He said he would continue to relate with the Civil Society and all well-meaning citizens of the Local government.

"I am receptive to new ideas. Kindly bring forward any lofty ideas that you have which will benefit our people", he said.
