Delta Police Arrests Suspected Armed Robbers and Cultists, Recover Weapons

In a significant breakthrough, police operatives attached to Ekpan Police Station apprehended two suspects linked to a notorious criminal syndicate that has been terrorizing Ekpan and its surrounding areas, particularly the refinery road. The suspects attempted to evade capture but were swiftly apprehended by the determined officers.
Upon searching the suspects, the police recovered a locally made cut-to-size single barrel gun, a cut-to-size double barrel pistol, and two live rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigations have confirmed their association with the criminal gang responsible for a series of criminal activities in the region. The arrested individuals are currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

In a separate operation, the Commander of the Decoy Squad, ASP Julius Robisnson, acting under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass led his team on a raid based on actionable intelligence received. The raid targeted a criminal hideout in Sapele and Oghara.

During the operation, five suspects were apprehended, identified as Christian Mordi, Julius Onoja, Obikoko Damian, Ochuko Ofoye, and Odem Hunt. All five individuals are associated with the Vikings confraternity and the Patriotic Lords initiative for Justice.

The search of Odem Hunt’s residence in Oghara uncovered a Beretta pistol with the breach number A059977, along with eight rounds of 9mm live ammunition. Also, the suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, are now in custody while the police are intensifying their efforts to apprehend other members of the gang.

Elsewhere, police operatives from Agbarho Police Station apprehended an 18-year-old suspect named Difference Sunday during a routine stop and search operation in Ekrarhawe community, Agbarho, Ughelli North LGA.

The suspect was found in possession of a locally made cut-to-size gun. Further investigation revealed that Sunday is a member of the Eiye confraternity, and a blue beret bearing the symbol of the Eiye confraternity was also recovered from him. The investigation into his activities is ongoing.

CP Wale Abass commended the diligence and bravery exhibited by the police personnel involved in these operations while urging parents and guardians to closely monitor their children, particularly the youth, as a significant proportion of crimes are committed by young individuals.

CP Abass reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime and called for increased cooperation from the people of Delta State and its residents in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.
