Anu-Olu international College Holds Valedictory Service, Honours Outstanding Students
ABEOKUTA – Anu-Olu international College, Abeokuta, has presented awards and honours to deserving outgoing students of the college during the 13th valedictory and graduation ceremony.The Chairman of the occasion, Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, Alhaji Dapo Wahab , in his valedictory speech, titled "The Role of Schools in Combating drug addiction in our Society", expressed appreciation to the Director of the school , and the management team for keeping to their promise of improving the learning infrastructure at the school.The philanthropy cautioned the graduands against being lured into taking of hard drugs capable of destroying their bright future .
He cited commonly abused drugs among youths in Nigeria to include Colorado, Tramadol, Marijuana (Indian hemp) warning them to steer clear of these hard drugs and avoid being influenced by pressure from peers groups in the neighbourhood or in school
In his words of encouragement , a Commissioner at the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Hon. Majekodunmi Olanrewaju urged the graduating students to put all they had learned in the course of their studies to good use and be good ambassadors of the school.
He said: “Everyone has the capacity to strive to get the best in life. People will only patronise you when they know you have worth. As you graduate from the college to obtain degrees in the university, be focused and upright. Choose your friend wisely.
“Success is a thing of the mind, and if you are determined to succeed in life, you have to be dedicated and let hard work be your watch word.”
Earlier in his welcome address, the Proprietor of Anu-Olu Group Of Schools, Hon Semiu Bola Lawal unfolded plans of the management of the college to introduce the use of Yoruba Language to compliment the use of English Language in teaching subjects as from the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year
Lawal said that the introduction of mother-tongue language such as Yoruba Language in teaching subjects in classrooms was to enhance learning and protect the language from going into extinction.
Justice Titi Bello, who was one of the guests at the event, prayed for the parents and urged the parents to be interested in upbringing of their children stressing the need for them to pay regular unscheduled visit to school, meet their class teachers to know how well they are doing in school.
