Dividend of Hard Work: Shuaibu, Ogun 1 CAC, Decorated as Comptroller

Felix Mordi

The elevation of Shuaibu Ahmadu Bello, Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Ogun 1 Area Command from Deputy Controller to a substantive Controller is cheering and  well-deserved.
Shuaibu, whose magnanimity has endeared him to the warm embrace of all and sundry, is noted for his exemplary managerial prowess of human resources, coupled with his appreciable sense of humor

Until Tuesday, January 9, 2024, when he was officially decorated with his new rank, alongside other beneficiaries of the recently released promotion, the amiable and friendly CAC used his office to positively impart on the lives of his subordinates through his welfarism.

An ardent believer in the principle of just and fairness, the CAC treats everybody with the fear of God and goes all out to put smile on the faces of officers and men, not leaving out those outside the Service.

As a thorough-bred career Customs officer, his record of achievements portrays him
as a catalyst of new innovations in the anti-smuggling fight.

It is on record that every unit of the Service he finds himself, Shuaibu's main objective and focus is to leave his footprint indelibly on the sand, a principle that has continued to be his compass.

This was manifested in his stewardship at the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone 'C' in Owerri and as Strike Force Coordinator of the FOU Unit, Zone ‘A’ in Lagos, during which he gave smugglers a running nose.

On assumption of duty in Ogun, having first served in Area 2 before his appointment to steer the ship of Area 1, the enigmatic Controller devised several anti-smuggling methods, just as he did in his previous duty posts; monthly seizures astronomically went up.

He sometime in 2023 intercepted 975 rounds of ammunition being smuggled into the country through Imeko-Afon axis of the state, aside from the regular seizure of contraband goods like rice, hard drugs petrol, used tyres, clothes and so forth.
