The Edo State Government and local law enforcement agencies are urgently seeking information regarding Ojo-Igbinoba Joseph, a 29-year-old graduate who is currently wanted for his alleged involvement in cult-related activities that have led to violence in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.
Joseph is believed to have fled in an attempt to escape the escalating violence and retaliatory threats from rival cult factions. It is important to note that Joseph has not been formally charged with any crime; however, the cult groups he was associated with have declared him a target for reprisal attacks due to his alleged involvement in conflicts that have resulted in deaths.
Reports indicate that Joseph’s life is in imminent danger, not only from these rival groups but also from the prevailing climate of violence in Benin City, which remains a significant threat to those associated with cult activities. The Edo Youths Peace Coalition has publicly denounced cult violence and supported the recent anti-cultism law enacted by the state government, highlighting the severe consequences faced by individuals targeted by such organizations.
Joseph’s family and friends are concerned for his safety, due to the unresolved vendettas stemming from cult rivalries.
In light of these facts, it is imperative that any individuals with knowledge of Joseph's whereabouts come forward to assist law enforcement. This notice serves to inform the public that Joseph is at serious risk of persecution should he be compelled to return to Nigeria, and highlights the urgent need for protective measures on his behalf.
