Daniel Commends Tinubu, Abiodun for Support on Naval Base Project, Hails Traditional Rulers' Contributions
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Nigerian Navy, Otunba Engr Gbenga Daniel FNSE FAEng, has expressed his profound gratitude to His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun - MFR, CON, Executive Governor of Ogun State, for the issuance and presentation of the Certificate of Occupancy for the Navy Forward Operational Base in Abigi, Ogun Waterside Local Government.With the Certificate of Occupancy issued, construction work on the site is set to commence soon. The project has secured funding of up to two billion naira (N2b) in the 2024 Appropriation, thanks to the support of President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The site was donated by the community through traditional rulers several years ago for Navy Hydrographic purposes but had seen little activity. However, Otunba Engr Gbenga Daniel's emergence as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy provided the opportunity to revive the project with an expanded scope.
Otunba Engr Gbenga Daniel thanked traditional rulers in Ogun Waterside, including the Ojotumoro of Abigi and Osobia of Makun, for their significant contributions. He also acknowledged the support of His Royal Majesty, Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba S.K. Adetona.

Otunba Engr Gbenga Daniel also thanked His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his tireless efforts in securing Nigeria's territorial waters, without which the project would not have been possible.
The Certificate of Occupancy marks a significant achievement, highlighting Ogun State's commitment to national security and its partnership with the Nigerian Navy in combating insecurity in the country's waterways, he concluded
