Crisis Erupts in Edo APC Over Commissioner-Nominees’ List

A dispute has emerged within the Esan West Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the list of commissioner-nominees submitted to the Edo State Governor.

In a petition dated November 21, 2024, party leaders expressed dissatisfaction, claiming the list does not fairly represent the five kingdoms of the local government—Ekpoma, Idoa, Ogwa, Ujogba, and Egoro. The petitioners alleged that the nominations were made without consulting local leadership and favored individuals with personal ties to party officials. They urged Governor Monday Okpebholo to reject the list, citing concerns that it could divide the party in the area.
