Lagos Closes Churches, Hotels, and Other Establishments Over Noise Pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut down several businesses, including churches, hotels, bars, and other establishments, for failing to comply with the state's environmental regulations TMnews can report.
This operation, conducted in areas like Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo, is part of ongoing efforts to tackle noise pollution and other environmental issues across the state.

In a statement shared on LASEPA’s official X handle, the agency confirmed that the affected establishments had been closed due to non-compliance with environmental standards, despite previous warnings.

LASEPA’s statement read: "As part of our continued efforts to address noise pollution and other violations, several businesses across Lagos were sealed. The operation, which targeted locations in Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo, highlights our commitment to improving the environment for all Lagosians."

The businesses shut down include Daily Bakery, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gak Universal Allied Limited, Ideal Standard, Franjane Royal Suites, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, Festival Hotel Conference Centre & SPA, FS Service Centre, and Moulin Rouge Ventures at Olivia Mall.

LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency's strict stance on environmental violations that endanger public health and disrupt community harmony.

"Environmental protection is a shared responsibility," Dr. Ajayi stated. "We are committed to ensuring that all businesses comply with environmental laws. Noise pollution, improper location of hazardous facilities, and other violations affect public health and the quality of life. We urge businesses and individuals to follow regulations and adopt sustainable practices."

Dr. Ajayi also encouraged residents to report environmental violations through LASEPA's official channels to help safeguard the environment.
