Mr Oyetola is a distinguished politician, an accomplished businessman and a seasoned public administrator who recently served as the Governor of Osun State, Nigeria from 2018 to 2022. With a strong focus on leveraging his private sector expertise and commercial acumen, Mr. Oyetola successfully translated his skills into enduring government programmes and projects during his tenure as Governor. He was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR as the pioneer minister of Marine and Blue Economy in August, 2023, a position he holds till date.
Throughout his administration in Osun State, Mr. Oyetola fostered robust collaborations with various local, national, and international development partners. Taking office on November 27, 2018, Mr. Oyetola spearheaded a remarkable revolution across diverse sectors of the Osun economy.Operating under an inclusive and participatory model of governance, Mr. Oyetola embarked on an ambitious revitalization agenda in the health sector.Notably, he achieved a historic milestone by simultaneously revitalizing 332Primary Healthcare Centres, one per ward, setting a precedent in Nigeria's history.
Furthermore, Mr. Oyetola fearlessly implemented ground-breaking transformations within the realm of education,passionately responding to the heartfelt aspirations of the State's citizens as well as the utmost expectations of esteemed national and international development partners and influential stakeholders.
Mr. Oyetola received his University education at the esteemed University of Lagos, Akoka, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Insurance in 1978. Continuing his quest for intellectual growth, Mr.Oyetola obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the same institution in 1990, cementing his solid academy foundation.
Commencing his career in 1980 after completing his mandatory one-year National Youth Service in Borno State, Mr. Oyetola entered the insurance industry as an Area Manager at Leadway Assurance Company Limited in Lagos, and subsequently as
Underwriting Manager at the Crusader Insurance Company Limited. Mr Oyetola further honed his expertise as Technical Controller at the Alliance and General Insurance. He founded the Silver Trust Insurance Brokers Limited in 1991 and had assumed board positions in leading organizations with diverse interests, including finance and real estate. In 2011,he successfully and seamlessly transitioned to the arena of public service as the Chief of Staff to Governor of Osun State.
Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Oyetola consistently distinguished himself as a conscientious professional of impeccable character,a compassionate leader, and a dynamic people manager. His meticulous attention to detail, emotional intelligence, passion for excellence and astute decision-making contributed significantly to his success in every role he undertook.

Mr. Oyetola effortlessly combines the effectiveness of a seasoned technocrat with the astuteness of an enlightened politician. During his tenure as Chief of Staff, he garnered recognition for his diligence, exceptional work ethic and innovative problem-solving abilities, earning him the recognition of "Exceptional Chief of Staff" by the Guardian Newspaper in 2017.
Drawing upon his extensive experience in the private sector,spanning over 30years, Mr. Oyetola effectively applied his leadership, financial and managerial skills as Governor of Osun State. His remarkable achievements include receiving several prestigious awards for his exemplary ability to manage the state's affairs without resorting to borrowing while delivering substantial dividends of democracy. Osun State,under Mr. Oyetola's leadership, was honoured with the World Bank's States'Fiscal Transparency,Accountability, and Sustainability (SFTAS) award for Efficiency in Public Expenditure.
Additionally, the state garnered the Award of Excellence for being the top performer in Domestic Revenue Mobilization.
Among his numerous accolades, Mr. Oyetola was bestowed with the Business Day Best Governor of the Year award in 2020, the Blueprint Newspaper Governor of the Year award in 2020, and the DAAR Communications Outstanding Leader in Governance award in 2021. The Nigerian NewsDirect recognized him as the Best Governor of the Year and Man of the Year in 2021, while the Champion Newspapers honoured him as the Governor and Man of the Year in 2020. Most recently, Mr. Oyetola was named the Governor of the Year for Good Governance by Vanguard Newspapers in 2021.
Mr.Oyetola was awarded the prestigious National Honour of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) by President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2023in recognition of his contributions to National development.

He successfully implemented a post-COVID 19 social protection initiative (The Osun Food Support Scheme)aimed at alleviating hunger especially among the poor and vulnerable citizens in which a total of 30,000 people benefited monthly,totalling 570,000 vulnerable residents.

Equipped with a colourful career within the Insurance sector, he was successfully able to utilise his expertise in risk and financial management, with wisdom he managed a highly resource-challenged environment of Osun state where he was able to deliver outstanding public value and impact. Successfully implemented investor-friendly policies and programmes that brought in several million dollars in Foreign Direct Investment in the mining sector resulting in financial close and
commencement of operations of Nigeria's first Commercial Gold mine - The Segilola Gold Fields listed on the Toronto Stock exchange.
