Foreign Minister Tuggar to Speak at Chatham House During UK Visit

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has embarked on a high-level working visit to the United Kingdom from March 3 to 5, 2025, to strengthen diplomatic ties and expand strategic collaboration between both nations.

According to a statement by the ministry’s acting spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to fostering global partnerships that drive economic growth and sustainable development.

During his visit, Ambassador Tuggar will deliver a speech at Chatham House, where he will discuss Nigeria’s evolving foreign policy and global ambitions. He will also participate in a high-level roundtable at the House of Commons, focusing on economic diversification, investment, and digital transformation.

Additionally, the minister is scheduled to engage with key media stakeholders at the BBC House in London and hold meetings with financial institutions, including JP Morgan and British International Investment (BII), to explore investment opportunities and financial cooperation.

The visit will feature bilateral talks with senior UK government officials on security collaboration, intelligence-sharing, business expansion, and strengthening academic partnerships between Nigerian and UK institutions. Ambassador Tuggar will also engage with the African Centre and the University of Cambridge to promote knowledge exchange and capacity-building.

The visit aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s foreign policy priorities, which emphasize economic diplomacy, strategic partnerships, and regional stability.

The statement added, “Ambassador Tuggar’s engagements will focus on enhancing Nigeria-UK cooperation in areas that foster innovation, economic diversification, and regional security.”
