International Women’s Day: NBA Women Forum, Police Vow To Protect Women and Children Rights
In commemoration of the International Women's Day, the NBA Ota Branch in conjunction with the NBA Women Forum and the African Women Lawyers Association paid a courtesy visit to the first female Police Area Commander in Ota. Part of the conversation was to explore ways and synergise how lawyers in Ota and the Police can have better working relationship.The chairman of the NBA Ota, Chief Mrs KK Ajose said the era of lawyers writing Petitions to criminalise civil matters should be done with. She also spoke on how Women and Children rights can be better protected with the support of the police.
In her response, the Ota Police Area Commander, ACP Oladele Bamidele Oluwashola said the Nigeria Police is always ready to cooperate with the Bar to protect human rights with the highest standards of professionalism.
Incidentally, this is the first time, the Ota Area Command is headed by a woman, same with the NBA Ota.
Also present at the meeting was the Ogun State coordinator of the African Women Lawyers Association, Ebere Obioma and Coordinator of the NBA Women Forum (Ota), Toyin Ndidi Taiwo-Ojo ESQ and the General Secretary of the African Women Lawyers Association.
