Man Killed in Niger as Bandits’ Explosive Detonates

A man, Basiru Hassan, lost his life after stepping on an explosive device suspected to have been planted by bandits in Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State.

The tragic incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Monday, according to a report by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X.

Hassan, a resident of Unguwan Hayin Jadda near Pandogari, had gone into the Sarari-Mangoro bush to tap honey when he accidentally triggered the explosive, causing it to detonate instantly.

His relatives later retrieved and buried his remains in accordance with Islamic rites.

Following the incident, security agencies have urged residents, particularly those in bandit-prone areas, to exercise extreme caution when navigating remote paths.
