Woman Petitions IGP Over Forceful Take Over Of Property

The Solicitors of Mrs Funke Otti, GTC Lawyers has written a petition dated March 3, 2025, to Kayode Egbetokun Inspector General of Police, IGP, to report a man (Whose name is quoted in the petition), accusing him of Criminal conversion of Property, forceful entry, illegal possession of firearms and threat to life among others.
In the said petition, the Solicitors on behalf of Mrs. Otti, sought the intervention and attention of the IGP to carry out a thorough investigation on the listed offences of the accused who the petition claimed to have violently, forcefully and in possession of firearms, unlawfully gained entrance into her 20 Acres property located on the Lagos - Ibadan Expressway by Shagamu.
The Property according to the petition property is fenced, has three separate occupied 3-Bedroom bungalows android a security house worth over 350,000,000 (Three Hundred and Fifty Million Naira Only) situated on the property.
The petition reads in part; “The accused and his gangs forcefully entered the aforementioned property with grave threats of violence, shooting sporadically into the air to scare workers who were busy on-site. The sudden incident left the workers with no option but to run for their lives, which consequently resulted in some of them sustaining severe injuries.

“After succeeding in chasing our Client's employees and Security Personnel out of the premises, they pulled down the structures and made away with the following construction equipment: CAT Excavator, Pay Loader, Industrial Water Pump, Flood Light Generator, and several other construction equipment with a total value of about Six Hundred Million Na ra (N600,000,000).

“However, the accused did not only stop at his numerous and notorious acts of criminal conversion, he also fraudulently sold the said property to a Chinese company, which is currently in possession of the property. It is also our utmost concern that despite repeated efforts made to trace the whereabouts of the accused and his accomplices, all attempts have proved abortive, as he has continued to threaten to kill our Client from his hideout.” The petition states.

The Counsel also said, "After the criminal invasion of the property, the accused engaged another accused person whose name is also withheld to write a frivolous petition to Area Command, Sagamu, Ogun State to take custody of the equipment which was falsely reported to Police that they were constituting nuisance  on the accuse's land. They connived within themselves to destroy the fence, the gatehouse and drove the security guards away and sold the land to Chinese Nationals who took over the land and redeveloped it.

"To show the accused is a notorious land grabber, he was recently arrested and charged to court by the Lagos State Taskforce over a land he forcibly took over at Agidingbi, Ikeja early this year, the matter is still on ."

The petitioner went on through the petition to respectfully call on the Inspector General of Police to use his good offices to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the accused and his gang to book, saying, “we are particularly concerned about the safety and well-being of our Client, who continues to live in fear due to the threats to her life.

“We trust in your capacity to ensure that justice is served and that those responsible for these criminal acts are apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.” They affirmed.
