PA SUNDAY AND MARIAM ADIGUN FOUNDATION ESTABLISHED, 20 INDIGENTS SUPPORTED WITH CASH GRANTS
In a heartfelt move to honour the memory of Pa Sunday and Amori Adigun, late grandparents of the Secretary of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Bunmi Adigun, a foundation aimed at supporting indigent members of society has been launched. The foundation, proudly supported by his cousin's, Toluwalope Adeogun(Adigun) and Yewande Akiode(Adigun)
was formally inaugurated during a ceremony held on Wednesday, April 24, coinciding with Bunmi Adigun's birthday.
In his address, Adigun reflected on the influence of their grandparents, who played significant roles in their upbringing.
He noted that the foundation was established not merely as a personal tribute but as a means to perpetuate their legacy of kindness and generosity.
“As I turned 40, I had envisioned supporting forty individuals, and while I couldn’t fulfill that goal in its entirety, I initiated a project that many believe to be a "forty in one."
"This project allowed me to assist a vendor in Abeokuta—a man who has endured much hardship. Through the support of many kind-hearted Nigerians, especially those present today, I was fortunate enough to make a difference in his life", he said
During the event, 20 indigent individuals received cash gifts of twenty thousand naira each as part of the foundation’s inaugural empowerment program.
Adigun emphasized that despite not being wealthy, he and his family believe in sharing the little they have with those in need.
“We do not consider ourselves wealthy; we are all looking to God for grace. Yet, we recognize that even those with food may not be able to eat, while others may be willing but without means. We are grateful to Allah for what we have and for the ability to share it”.
Adigun, joined by his sisters, Mrs. Toluwalope Adeogun and Mrs. Yewande Akiode, expressed hopes that the foundation would continue to grow and positively impact more lives in the years ahead.
He also extended appreciation to friends, colleagues, and well-wishers who supported the vision and contributed to the success of the launch.
“Whenever I reach out for help, you have consistently been there for me. When I shared this idea with you, you responded with kindness, which reminds me that together, we can indeed make a difference despite our limitations”.
